Pickering Couple Married 60 Years Honored at Celebration by Family.

Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Bath, Elizabeth Street, Pickering Village, were recently honored by their eight children at a dinner on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary.
The honored couple were married Sept. 28, 1910, in Toronto and took up residence in Pickering Township a few years after their marriage. Mrs. Bath, the former Nina May Banks, was born just outside of Pickering Village and has lived in the local area for most of her life. She is the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Henry Banks of Pickering.
Edgar Bath was born near Collingwood and moved to Dunbarton with his family as a young boy. His parents are the late Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Bath of Dunbarton.
The couple's eight children, who gave the dinner in honor of their parents are: son Harvey and wife Eileen; daughter Marjorie and husbandWalter Wood; daughter Geraldine and husband Mel Carlton; son Allan and wife Margaret; daughter Dorothy and husband Harold Scott; son Howard and wife Ruby; daughter Joyce and husband Peter Kaiser; son Kennethand wife Pat.
Following the dinner there was a reception for friends and relatives including Mr. & Mrs. Bath's 38 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Telegrams of congratulations were received from William Newman, MPP, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Premier John Robarts, Oppostion Leader Robert Stanfield and from Queen Elizabeth II.
They also received a plaque from the Province of Ontario and a beautiful floral arrangement from Pickering Village Council. Relatives and friends showered the 60th anniversary couple with lovely gifts and tributes.
The eight children presented their parents with rings to commemorate the occation. Mr. Bath received a diamond ring and his wife receiveda ring set with the eight birthstones of their children.
