Arthur was engaged to a lady named Betty when he met Trixie (Beatrice). According to Mum (Molly) he was so enamoured of Trixie that he cancelled his engagement to Betty and married Trixie on April 4, 1910, the date of their marriage which has been verbally passed down the generations. The fact is that Trixie was pregnant with Nan (born October 5, 1911) and their marriage certificate confirms that they were married April 4, 1911. When Mum (Molly) was told on August 3, 2003, her response was "Oh, the naughty things!! But I hope they really loved eachother."
