My Great Grandmother (ACM)
She had 3 older and 2 younger brothers.
She had six children
Born in Gt Torrington, where she lived wilth her mother and family
while her father John,commuted to London, 190 miles away, working as a
Pianomaker.
By the time she was 30, she lived next door to Robert Hewitson in
Islington at 22 Sutterton St 1869 (He was now 23) at time of their
marriage. 22 was her fathers house (he was a Piano maker and Robert
was an Engineer)
Stanley her son was born at no 23 Sutterton St in 1877
Robert her husband took out a lease on a factory in 1878 (73) in
Walworth Southwalk and they move soon after to Boyson Rd Walworth (by
1881,1886) with a Grandmother and Aunt (her)( mother Susan Handcock?
and aunt Charlotte Handcock? or sister Frances Squire?)
She spoke French and kept up French correspondence with relations in
France and Italy-cousins.
Aunts in Paris (Squire)
before she married she lived in France for three years staying with
cousins 1852 (aged 24)
Possibly a brother who married a french woman and lived in Paris
She was a skilled needlewoman.
Lived 19 Halmer Rd, Camberwell from 1909 to 1919 alone after death of
Husband 1910;
Calais Gate, Camberwell flat where she died.
