A pretty wedding was solemnised at the St. Michael's Parish Church, Torrington, on Tuesday, Rev. Preb. F. Emlyn Jones (Vicar) officiating. Mr. Cyril Stanley Vodden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vodden, Well-street, Torrington, being married to Miss Florence Maude Curtis, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Curtis, New-street, Torrington. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of brown crepe de chine with lace overdress and hat to match, and carried a shower bouquet of white tulips and asparagus fern. The bridesmaids, Miss Edith Curtis (sister), and Miss Edith Parkhouse, a friend of the bride, looked very pretty in dresses of Havana crepe de chine lace, with large black picture hats. They carried bouquets of bronze tulips and fern, and wore gold brooches, the gifts of the bridegroom. Mr. Fred Vodden, brother of the bridegroom, discharged the duties of groomsman. ... Both bride and bridegroom being widely known and highly respected, they were the recipients of many useful and costly presents, including a silver tea service from the railway staff at Torrington depot. The honeymoon is being spent at Uppingham, near Leicester. As the train steamed out from the station detonators were placed in the line by Mr. Vodden's railway colleagues."
