On the 1881 census, George appears to be with a family in London while his wife, Mary, and their children remain in Cheshire. Mary is listed as head of the household at 16 Derby Road, Tranmere, Birkenhead, Cheshire and is shown as a Manager's wife. Is George visiting the Dodd family or is he there on business. Why would he be shown as a boarder in this household unless he was staying there for longer than a visit? Is it possible that Martha is his sister; otherwise there doesn't seem to be any family connection to this family?

Mary dies in 1882 leaving George with 7 children at home, from Frank Victor b 1864 to Ethel b1875.

Not sure what happened after that but it appears that George remarried Harriet and on the 1891 Census had moved to Berkshire. If this is true then possibly he died in Reading in 1899 - see below.
