Arthur William Parker went by his second name as so many members of this family did. This tradition was passed on to his children since his wife was German born and the tradition of naming German children after another member of the family lead to the child being called by their second name to differentiate between one and the other.
At the time of his marriage to Minna Maria Helen Hessler in 1883, William was living at 13 Offa Terrace, Bersham.

William was a station master at GWR in Albrighton at time of Arthur's birth in 1886. Mutter Hessler could not speak English very well and when Arthur was born, being a rather large baby, Mutter Hessler went running to the Station to tell her son-in-law that an "Elephant" was born! A story passed down by Molly Vodden.
